چکیده

Hard ticks (Acari: Ixodidae) and tick-borne diseases are considered as a threat in several parts of Europe. In Finland, both Ixodes ricinus persulcatus have shifted northwards recent decades, they become more abundant at the same time. This is thought to be due global climate change its effect directly on or indirectly their host animals. review focuses factors that affect tick activity survival, influence life cycle ticks. Both presence availability animals microclimatic conditions occurrence any given area. For example, high temperatures low humidity force species seek shelter from cooler humid microhabitats, sensitive desiccation. However, distribution associated with complex combination environmental climatic factors.

Peculiarities of behaviour of taiga (Ixodes persulcatus) and sheep (Ixodes ricinus) ticks (Acarina: Ixodidae) determined by different methods.

A comparison of the behavioural peculiarities of Ixodes persulcatus Schulze, 1930 (north-western population, Russia) and Ixodes ricinus (L., 1758) from western Russia and Denmark was determined by using two methods. Method 1 involved a sojourn of ticks on vertical plastic sticks and showed that the questing behaviour of I. ricinus nymphs was dependent on temperature and relative humidity (RH). ...

Ultrastructure of spirochetes isolated from Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes dammini.

Two strains of Ixodes spirochetes, one isolated in the United States (B31) and the other in Sweden (G25), were examined by electron microscopy. Cells of strain G25 were 11-25 micron long with a wavelength of 2.1-2.4 micron and an amplitude of 0.4 micron. Eleven flagella were inserted subterminally at each end of the cell. Cells of strain B31 were similar but had eleven or seven flagella. Cytopl...

Differentiation of medically important Euro-Asian tick species Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes persulcatus, Ixodes hexagonus, and Dermacentor reticulatus by polymerase chain reaction.

Understanding epidemiology of the tick-borne pathogens requires the accurate identification of the vector ticks. Morphological analysis of ticks is difficult and often leads to misidentification. Molecular techniques offer an alternative approach of tick identification. To date, no practical and reliable molecular assays for discrimination of Euro-Asian ticks are available. Our aim was to devel...

Cleavage in Ixodes ricinus (L.) (Acari: Ixodidae).

The author analyzed the first 5 days of embryonic development of Ixodes ricinus. The cleavage takes 4 days, being terminated on the 5th day of embryogenesis, when the cells start to invaginate and differentiate. The karyomeres play a role in the initial mitotic divisions. Cellularization occurs on the 2nd and 3rd day of embryogenesis. The blastoderm cells maintain their potential for division, ...

Transmission of Bartonella henselae by Ixodes ricinus

Bartonella spp. are facultative intracellular bacteria associated with several emerging diseases in humans and animals. B. henselae causes cat-scratch disease and is increasingly associated with several other syndromes, particularly ocular infections and endocarditis. Cats are the main reservoir for B. henselae and the bacteria are transmitted to cats by cat fleas. However, new potential vector...
